  • Embedding a Video

This tutorial is for media located on the University of Iowa streaming server.  If you have questions about how to use the UI's streaming server, please contact the ITS Help Desk.

 

  1. When editing a page, select Insert > Other Macros (or press Ctrl + Shift + A).
  2. Search for and select 'Streaming Video'.


  3. Input the required details: NOTE: The file location is the Partial Path to the video on the streaming server. Captions should be placed in the same folder as the video and will use the same Partial Path. Here are instructions on How to Create SRT Files and Captioning Best Practices.

     Partial Path = parentfolder/subfolder/video.mp4
          Example: a parent folder name might = business, engineering, law, etc. if in a professional school, or housing, hr, vpr, etc. for organizational departments
          A subfolder is usually your HawkID, but might be another departmental name or group name.
          An example partial path – used for the embed code would be:
                  o law/jhawk/myvideo.mp4




  4.  Select Save
  5. Your video will now be embedded
